Having once been the bassist in Tame Impala, the current frontman of Pond as well as moonlighting in various side projects such as Allbrook / Avery, impish Australian artist Nicholas Allbrook is a man with fingers in many psychedelic pies. Somehow between all his outlandish guises though, he's still managed to find time to record his own solo album, Pure Gardiya, out 27th of May. Ahead of its release, he's unveiled a video for 'A Fool Was There' and despite expecting a full on, speedball freak-out of electric guitars, this single is a much darker and sensitive than what we've heard before. The visuals may be just as avant-garde as ever and the guitars are still lurking, but there a despairing twinge has been added to the mix. It's filled with creative genius though, and we should have known that Nicholas Allbrook would never follow a trend, even one set by himself. - SJ
